Illustration Friday: Strings
The earliest known illustrations of the puppet theatre appear in Li Romans du Bon Roi Alixandre which was illuminated in 1344. After the restoration, many foreign imports were seen on the stages of Britain, and amongst these there came the character Sulinello. He rose very quickly as the new star of the puppet stage and transformed into the Punch & Sully show we know today.
